Pete and i are creatures of habit. Once we find somewhere we love to eat we tend to keep going back and The Bay Horse, Hurworth is top of our list.
The food it truly amazing, the chef is a food genus. The way all the flavours blend together to make every mouth full perfection, it’s a gift; also the food always looks perfect, so perfect it could be art!
Even though the pub it’s self is tiny and always packed once you go through to the dining area the whole atmosphere changes to a relaxed romantic feel set with mood lighting and candles. The decor is traditional English Pub and it works really well. The Staff are attentive but not over bearing and really friendly. For any foodie this is the place for you, don’t be put off by the portion size because both Pete and i have never left hungry!
My starter was Roasted Carrot Risotto with goats cheese beignet, pine nuts and 12 year old balsamic. (i would have taken a picture but my inner piggy tucked straight inn and devoured it! oink oink!).
Pete went for the French Black Pudding with Beetroot Remoulade, Worcestershire Sauce Mayonnaise, and Pressed Toulouse Sausage & English Mustard Cream.
We both went for the Slow Cooked Daube of Beef with Broad Beans & Bacon Fricassee, Broad Bean Mash, Irish Cabbage, Salted Beef Cake, Béarnaise Sauce and Red Wine Jus.
My desert was Banana Tart with peanut butter ice cream.
Pete’s desert was traditional Sticky toffee pudding.
